Cargo Cults are everywhere
Let’s be honest, we live mostly unexamined lives and have no idea why we do most of the things we do and rationalize to ourselves post hoc that we are thinking creatures. In the context of development process let me just ask this; When is the last time you measured whether or not a practice was giving you the benefit it’s intended to? Did you have a problem with team understanding before starting daily status meetings? Did you have a problem with those meetings running long before you started standing during them?
Premature optimization is the root of all evil and Cargo Cults are it’s front man.
